My Story.
My career and knowledge didn’t just happen overnight. It’s been built step by step, through hard work and learning at every stage. What I thought would just be a fun job picking up trash at Knott’s Berry Farm, turned out to be the foundation of my career. From there, I moved into plastic manufacturing, duct manufacturing, transitioned into Environmental Services (EVS) at a hospital, and ultimately took me to the largest dental laboratory in the U.S., which employs approximately 4,300 people.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned the ins and outs of manufacturing, purchasing, and most importantly, custodial operations. What I love about custodial work is that it’s never just about trash and toilet paper, it’s about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
One life-changing moment for me was while working at the largest hospital in South Orange County. A nurse told me, “Doctors can diagnose, nurses can care for patients, but without EVS, patients would die.” That perspective changed everything. It showed me that the work I do is critical, and it drove me to not only care more deeply but also to instill that same pride and purpose in the employees I lead or teach.
As my career evolved, I began to blend cost savings with operational excellence. My experience in purchasing opened my eyes to how much impact smart sourcing and efficiency improvements can have on overall operational costs. That’s when I started treating every business I worked for as if it were my own because in custodial, the department doesn’t generate revenue, but it can absolutely protect it by driving savings and exceeding expectations .
